Arimidex

Breast cancer is a rising epidemic in the world today. Though there is yet to be a cure, modern medicines have taken a giant leap in helping treat it. Arimidex is a medication that is used to help treat breast cancer in women that have gone through menopause. It works by lowering the hormone called estrogen. When these levels are lowered, tumors will shrink and slow their growth.

So, how is this medicine taken? It is often taken by mouth. It doesn’t have to be taken with food, it is just based on preference. It is usually taken once a day, or possibly more depending on what your doctor prescribes. In order to get the maximum benefit, the medication needs to be taken regularly. It also needs to be taken at the same time each and every day. It is not safe nor recommended that you increase your dose without first talking to your doctor.  Increasing your dose will not improve your condition, but could cause some serious side effects. Women who are pregnant are warned against handling the drug due to the fact that it is absorbed through the skin.

Some of the side effects surrounding Arimidex are but are not limited to: diarrhea or constipation, vomiting, upset stomach or loss of appetite. Body aches and breast swelling or tenderness is likely as well. Your moth can become dry and your throat scratchy with an increasing cough. If one or more of these symptoms should arise, it is best for you to call your doctor and discuss alternative actions and treatments.
